Greetings from Barrington! As we enter the most colorful season, the foliage promises to be wicked spectacular this year—one side benefit of such a soggy summer.
And while the changing seasons remind us of the passing of time, we just celebrated the store’s 140th Anniversary. Wow! We had a number of speakers at the store including WMUR-TV’s Fritz Wetherbee, who entertained us with several stories about Barrington in the 19th Century. Also, New Hampshire humorist and great friend of the store Rebecca Rule regaled us with a couple of Calef’s stories. We also were graced with a number of politicians including US Sen. Carol Shea-Porter, State Sen. Jackie Cilley and State Rep. Janet Wahl, who all shared some very kind words about the tradition the is Calef’s. A fun afternoon for all.
